Just to repeat in writing three main points from the start of today's lecture

  • A timetable for the last weeks of the course (from 11th May to 3rd June) has been put on the course webpage.
  • Please choose a day for giving your 10-minute presentation using the form on the course webpage. The deadline for this is Thursday 28th April.
  • Please email me a proposed topic and title for your 10-minute presentation. The deadline for this is Thursday 5th May.

Thank you! I wish you a very happy Easter.

I have today put a "Presentation timetable" on the course webpage.

Instructions for presentations were given in detail in last week's lecture (7th May). Please remember in particular the following.
  • Presentations must last a minimum of 9 minutes and a maximum of 13 minutes. (5 marks are awarded for staying within these bounds.)
  • You are required to attend all other presentations given on the day of your own presentation.

If you wish to give a computer presentation with slides then I request that you email me a pdf file with your slides by at latest 10:00 on the day of your presentation. I will then display your slides using the lecture room computer.

An alternative is to use your own computer, but in this case it is your responsibility to ensure that it works with the lecture-room projector. (The lecture room projector has a VGA plug, and I have a VGA to HDMI conversion cable.) If you do not manage to get your computer working with the projector then you may lose marks.

I am looking forward to a stimulating and  varied programme of presentations. I very much hope you will enjoy and benefit from it too!

With best wishes,

Alex Simpson
